Physically profficiant

During some of the classes we take in the semester there are a few students who I notice can not complete some of the critical elements. I feel if you are going to have to teach students why it is important to be able to complete the task in hand the teacher themselves should be also be able to do so. Some of the students in my class are unable to simply serve the volleyball over the net or complete a normal hit over to the other side during game play. Students will notice you are unable to o so and question the authority and wonder why they have to if you can't.

College general education classes

I feel that it is not necessary for colleges to make such high demands on the amount of credits needed for general education classes. If you are unsure about what to major in when going into freshman year that student should take it upon him/herself and their advisor to take a wide range of topic to see which one suits them. If you know going into the fisrt year that you want to major in something that you feel is what you want to do there is no need for wasting all that time and money. I took around three full semesters worth of gen. ed. classes and looking back I wasted a lot of time and money. International politics, and physical geology along with many more were no where near needing for me to take it to handle a physical education class in the health room and on the gym floor. Along with the prices of things on the campus like books, clothing, food, and much more are way to expensive and then they take more from you for 2 years of un-needed classes.

Why Physical Education

During high school when it was time to think of college and what profession I would want to enter I could not think of anything else other than physical education. Picturing myself at an office or going to school for buisness was not sounding right. I enjoyed sports in high school and wanted to continue to play in college, so staying active and helping others do the same sounded excellent to me. The problem of obesity in children today has risen greatly since the 1980's so something must be done. Some of the older phys. ed. teachers are stuck in thier ways and continue to not benefit the health and continue to play games in class and not worrry about the student's health.
